Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people, RA also attacks other tissues and organs, including the skin.
Rheumatoid arthritis most often starts between the ages of 40 and 60. Women are three times more likely than men to get rheumatoid arthritis. The disease is also more common in people who have a family history of the condition. People of all races can develop rheumatoid arthritis, but it is most common in people of Asian or Caucasian descent.
